Duplicate Bridge Clubs
The Holidays continue to cut games about half the usual schedule
listed below. For the newcomer it's imperative to call confirming scheduled
games until we get into January with a scheduled game on the 2nd and
be consistent thereafter. Inclement weather, enough to close school will be your
automatic signal for the cancelling of most social activities including bridge.
General
instruction: Games
are open to all bridge players. You need to come with a partner or an arranged
partner through the club director (by calling the phone references below
preferably 2-5 days ahead of your chosen game if you need a partner). It is a great opportunity to improve
your game, also to experience modern bidding and the play of the cards as
currently practiced in all contract bridge whether duplicate, or the more common
party bridge.
Specifics: The
Three Bridge Clubs Schedules
are: Holiday Island Duplicate Bridge Club
(HIDBC) meeting the second, fourth, and fifth Fridays of each month,
Mrs. Joe (Rosie) Schuler, Director (253-9004); Eureka Springs Duplicate Bridge Club
(ESDBC) , Monday afternoon. Mrs.
Clarence (Jean) Razer, Director (253-2627)
The clubs all meet at
the Holiday Island 18-hole golf course club house. The HIDBC is a 10 table game and meets in
the ballroom with play beginning at 12:30 p.m. The ESDBC is 6-7 table game beginning at
12:30 p.m. on Monday each week (including 5th Monday) in Room A.
Members carpool to Shell Knob to its 10 table game which
meets at the Community Center just off 39 East of town (across from St. John's
Clinic) open 11:30a with play promptly at 12:00 noon each Wednesday. Contact
Curtis Bell, Director (See contacts at Tri-Lakes Bridge Scores-- web site listed
below). All games: To play, one
should show up with a partner and 20-30 minutes early to register and be in
place to hear announcements. The
cost is $2.00 ($2.50 on 10 table games) per person per game and is payable
before play commences. The current
panels of players are among your neighbors and friends in Western Carroll Co.,
but also Shell Knob and Harrison.
To find names of players that can further advise you please look on the
internet at www. Tri-Lakes Bridge.com (look for the Game
Results partnership listings and to direct Curtis Bell's personal e-mail address
and phone number.)

A 2nd set of bridge

students of 5th through High School. As last fall, the class will be
